SSVP Programs in Ottawa for October 2016
As you well know St Vincent de Paul operates three thrift shops in Ottawa, but you might not know how your donations and purchases at our charity thrift shops impact the Ottawa community. We thought it would be important to give you an update how your kindness has helped others.
Families Assisted
St Vincent de Paul assisted 33 families. We provided mattresses, furniture and clothing for new refugees in Ottawa as well as other families going through a tough spot. October saw the start of a need for winter clothing. These families included 53 adults and 55 children, many of them single parents. We helped 76 individuals including parolees reintegrating into society.
Community Partnerships
In October, St Vincent de Paul Ottawa also assisted people in their time of need in partnership with 18 community organizations including The Well, The Parkdale Food Centre and The Sheppards of Good Hope to name a few. October saw $14454 in goods given back to the Ottawa community for a total of $95670 to date this year.
Thank You for Your Help Ottawa
You can continue to help by shopping at our local thrift stores or by giving your used items such as clothing, furniture and other household items. You can drop them off at a donation bin near you or contacting us for a home pick-up of your larger items.
St Vincent de Paul Society Ottawa and your community thanks you and we wish you a wonderful holiday season.
